The second-hand marketplace Users Express Displeasure Regarding Sizing Changes
Shoppers are voicing their frustration following a change that caused items being listed as the wrong size.
The popular resale platform has altered its measurement guidelines for women's and children's garments failing to inform all users about the change.
Digital Channels Response
Many shoppers and sellers are expressing on platforms saying Vinted listings now show a modified sizing category versus the original listing because of the remapping.
The company said the updated approach better aligns with comparable marketplaces.
It has advised users to check their listings and manually change the size when needed, which has left users frustrated.
Size Classification Modifications
Before the change, the sizes had both numerical and alphabetical indicators, such as S/8 or M/10.
The revised method features a letter with a size spectrum for example S/UK 8-10.
With some products, the measurements have been reclassified - such as a large size was previously a 12 but is now a UK 16-18.
Shopper Stories
A fashion influencer, who produces content about larger sizing, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".
"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.
Another user, based in Glasgow, said garments she listed featuring size 14 markings were displaying on the service as larger sizing 20-22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they will likely be quite upset," she stated.
Manual Updates
Charlotte Lunn, located in England, said she had been left angered due to the update requiring manual adjustment the measurements for "each individual item".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, as I'm chronically ill and Vinted sales have been crucial for me since losing part of my income," she explained.
Service Background
The app has more than 100 million shoppers, including 18 million in the UK.
It has proved a popular alternative compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.
This is not the initial instance that an unexpected update to the app has proved unpopular: previously, the service retracted a modification regarding delivery choices due to shopper criticism.
