Ten individuals found guilty of cyber-bullying targeting Brigitte Macron

A Paris court has ruled against ten people for engaging in the cyber-bullying of Brigitte Macron, the wife of French President, Emmanuel Macron.
The accused individuals faced charges of disseminating false claims regarding her gender identity and sexual orientation, in addition to posting malicious remarks about the couple's 24-year age gap.
The court delivered conditional custodial sentences of up to eight months to the perpetrators. The detailed judgment has yet to be released.
A longstanding unfounded claim claiming that Brigitte Macron is a transgender woman has existed since her husband's rise to the presidency in 2017.
This recent ruling in France comes as the Macrons pursuing a libel case in the US against conservative commentator Candace Owens, who has repeatedly shared comparable unfounded claims about the first lady's biological sex.
Their complaint states that Owens brushed aside any factual proof disproving her claim opting to amplify the voices of notorious conspiracy peddlers.
Owens has often echoed these assertions on her show and online platforms, and in March 2024 stated that she would risk all her credibility on her conviction that Mrs. Macron was born a man.
Brigitte Macron initially encountered her now-husband when she taught at his secondary school.
The couple married in 2007, when the then-29-year-old Emmanuel Macron was 29 and she was in her mid-50s.
